Het Internationaal Festival van de Fantastische Film, Science Fiction en Thriller (internationaal bekend als Brussels International Festival of Fantastic Film, BIFFF) werd voor het eerst georganiseerd in Brussel van 13 tot 29 maart 1983, en vindt sedertdien jaarlijks plaats. Naast voorstellingen (vaak avant-premières) van "fantastische films" (horror, sciencefiction, fantasy, thriller, zowel langspeelfilms als kortfilms en animatiefilms) op verschillende locaties in Brussel zijn er ook randevenementen zoals tentoonstellingen, maquillage- en bodypainting-wedstrijden, of een vampierenbal. Het festivalcentrum is het Auditorium van de Passage 44 aan de Kruidtuinlaan in Brussel.
Het festival is uitgegroeid tot een toonaangevend evenement in zijn genre, met jaarlijks ca. 100 langspeelfilms op het programma, en meer dan 60.000 bezoekers. Op het festival wordt veel ruimte gegeven aan de minder commerciële films, die weinig kans maken om via de normale distributiekanalen in de bioscoopzalen vertoond te worden.
Tijdens het festival worden ook prijzen uitgereikt, waarvan de belangrijkste de Gouden Raaf is voor de beste film (de Raaf verwijst naar het gedicht The Raven van Edgar Allan Poe). --http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/BIFFF [Apr 2007]

94 long feature films were presented during this 22nd edition, for a total of 109 screenings. 76 of these films were premieres, of which 14 world premieres, 11 European and 51 national premieres. In addition to this, 47 short films were presented. Three of these short films were directed by the participants of the 8th "Workshop Fantastic Brussels", this year under the supervision of JULIEN VREBOS. Under the denominator "Long live the dead!" Cinema Nova honoured the zombie film in general and the work of George A. Romero in particular. 101 guests have honoured our event by their presence: directors as well as actors, producers, special effects specialists, writers, drawers, painters, sculptors,... as all the members of the different juries have accepted our invitation, such as RONNY YU, FRANK VAN PASSEL, ENKI BILAL, THIERRY LHERMITTE, VINCENZO NATALI, STUART GORDON and GAYLENE PRESTON. Over 60.000 visitors turn the BIFFF into one of the most popular film festivals in Belgium. The Vampire Ball, organized this year at the cultural center Le Botanique, welcomed about1500 disguised party people. 332 journalists, have reported about this 22nd edition.
