Mr. Bongo Records

A Brighton based independent record label specialising in Brazilian music and world music. It was formed in 1989 by David 'Mr Bongo' Buttle.

Brazilian Beats

Three years in the making Brazilian Beats represents Brasil's finest dancefloor moments. Opening up with the classic BA-TU-CA-DA remixed by the in-form Pete Heller (Big Love & Farley /Heller) this has featured on the latest Fosters Rio "TV" ad. Next up is Tenorio Junior, a brasilan bossa pianist who was "disappeared" in the late 70s by the Argentine secret police never to twinkle the ivories again. Slow Down to the funky ravings of Skowas version of the Headhunters' God Made Me Funky - delicious breaks and Ed Mottas vocals.

Back to speed with Masters at Work rewriting the Brasilian Song Book with their latest production Brasilian Beat Featuring Lilliana (De Lata, Arakatuba) on vocals: NUYORICAN SOUL Boys delivering the fat bass and beats. Sambalanca Trio continue that hard bossa beat, all you need is piano drums and bass. Dom Salvador is a legend and with partner Dom Um Romão made the heaviest brasilian funk. Barumba sweats....

At last Celebration Suite, the anthem of all Jazz / House dancefloors gets re-released with a big cut. Sampled on tracks like Belo Horizonti, Airto has a European tour in November.

Ed Lincoln puts a 2 step buzz on Cochise. Trio Mocoto are in the OS Mutantes mould of mad psychadelic funkanova. Banana brings back the hard drum trio beats. Boogaloo Combo's version of Hot Pants Road was a hard to get rarity changing hands for £500+, now avaiable for your delictation. Nico Gomez brings up the rear with a pounding latin soul break as used by the Bronx Dogs.
