Definition

A lesbian (lowercase L) is a homosexual woman. Lesbians are sexually and romantically attracted to other women. One could argue that one is not a lesbian (as a noun) but lesbian (as an adjective). This would depend on self identification, and is different for most lesbians/lesbian women. --http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lesbian [Apr 2005]

Lesbian erotica

Depictions of lesbian sex have been relatively common in erotic art and pornography throughout history.

In visual art
A depiction of lesbian sex is included among the erotic frescoes of Pompeii. Later, European painters such as François Boucher, JMW Turner, Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres, Gustave Courbet, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Gustav Klimt, Egon Schiele, and Balthus would include erotic lesbian themes among their work. More explicit depictions were an important part of the work of erotic illustrators such as Rojan and Gerda Wegener. Explicit depictions of lesbianism were also an important theme in Japanese erotic shunga, including the work of such masters as Hokusai, Yanagawa Shigenobu, and Shofu Kyosai. --http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lesbianism_in_erotica [Jun 2006]
