Maurice Bottomley lectures in Literature and Cultural Studies at Manchester Metropolitan University. He ran a record shop before falling into academia and spends most of his non-teaching time on the Modern Soul circuit. His endlessly deferred book on music and English sub-cultures will one day get written. Under the name of M.A. Bottomley he is a widely published poet.
