Private Eyes 1983 -1987
The first in NYC to have video as the main attraction--34 screens playing many different images at once while people danced or just hung out. Run by Steve Sukman, it was a big record industry hangout from 1983 to 1987.
Private Eyes was quite famous for its "after hours" parties, where many legendary NYC DJ's and record people would come and hang out on Saturday night after work...Jellybean, Mark Kamins, Francois K, Shep Pettibone, Arthur Baker, John Robie, Tina B, Madonna... they often stayed until 6 aor 7 a.m.; John Robie would do live jams on a keyboard that we had in the DJ booth to the instrumental side of 'Planet Rock' or other cool records.
