For Danny Krivit, an early fan of Gibbons’ edits whose own story is to follow, they were all ‘about extension’.Strut Records
Strut Records was the first label to officially release some of Danny Krivit's editing skills:
"As well as general one-off 12" titles, the label will be releasing a series of 12"s branded around individual producers. The first series will be focusing on the re-edit skills of New York's Danny Krivit, resident DJ at the Body & Soul club night. Krivit has been re-editing and releasing classics since the early 80s and this represents the first time one of his works has ever been made officially available. The 12" series kicks off with a new version of the Salsoul classic, 'Everyman' by Double Exposure. The original track previously only available as an album cut and is provides the basis for the huge new M&S record, 'Salsoul Nugget' (FFRR). This is flipped with Chi Lites' 'My First Mistake', a classic Krivit re-edit from the early 90s re-made for 2000 "Japan
Danny Krivit of Body and Soul on Japan: "IS JAPAN THE SAME VIBE AS BODY & SOUL?
Body and Soul is a little more predictable in the sense of, this is my room, and I know what they know and what they like. Wwhen I play a house song from the 80's or the early 90's I know that I'm going to get this response or not when it comes in. In Japan, they appreciate more. But I can't anticipate that I know this song is going to get them go, "Woo!" They basically like more of the rare stuff, I basically play classics that maybe might not get over here, not everybody knows that one, or maybe only a few heads know that. Whereas in Japan, they seem to know more of the rare stuff. They are more into variety and rarities. I certainly have very extreme tastes in music. What I consider the best in what I'm playin, is usually the best reaction I'm getting there. It's very rewarding. "CDs

Classic club tracks galore -- all remixed by the godlike hands of the legendary Danny Krivit! Danny was part of the New York scene back in the day, and he was around in the clubs working when most of these gems first came out -- and was also forward-thinking enough to figure out the art of remixing when few others were giving it a try -- taking already-great tracks, and opening them up even more with a fantastic approach to space and rhythm! This set's a stunning collection of his best work in the remix department, and presents 10 gems from the glory days of the disco dancefloor -- all served up with a great set of notes that features photos, details on the mixes, and some very interesting reflections from Danny. An essential set -- both for the novice and the longtime collector of such rarities -- with remixes of "Catch The Rhythm" by Caress, "Where Is The Love" by Betty Wright, "Love To The World" by LTD, "You Got Me Runnin (Breakdown edit)" by Lenny Williams, "Dance To The Music (medley)" by Sly & The Family Stone, "Give Me Your Love" by The Sisters Love, "I Can't Stop Talking" by Genie Brown, "Koke" by Tribe, "Bra" by Cymande, "Ask Me (re worked)" by Ecstasy Passion & Pain, and "No One Gets The Prise (re-edited Jimmy Simpson rmx)" by Diana Ross.--dustygroove.comDanny Krivit - Expansions [CD, Amazon US] [FR] [DE] [UK]
