Philadelphia based female vocal group. Norman Harris produced their uptempo cuts with that classic Salsoul/Gold Mind feel. Shep Pettibone later remixed 'Let No Man Put Asunder ' [it's not over...over] and 'Dr. Love', with great dancefloor acclaim. Rochelle Fleming continued to pursue her music career during the nineties. For the Larry Levan spotters: 'Double Cross (Gold Mind, 1979) (Larry Levan mixed this on SA8533). And finally for the Tee Scott spotters: Gg 502 Gold Mind First Choice Love Thang 1979 12" (this is Tee Scott's first ever mix)

Let No Man Put Asunder and Jack Your Body

Let No Man Put Asunder 12" SG397 1983 Produced By Harris Young Productions 'Jack Your Body'has the same bassline as 'Let No Man Put Asunder'
Steve Hurley is behind the track, which hit the top despite only having three words - the title. It wasn't a terribly original record but it summed up the mood of jack fever.

Rochelle Fleming

Rochelle Fleming enjoyed several more dancefloor hits like "Love Itch" on the Prelude imprint and the 1994 'Danger!' on Cutting records (CR-300), featuring mixes by Paul Simpson, Danny Morales and Zach Toms, the last being our favorite mix.

    First Choice -- Armed & Extremely Dangerous . . . CD . . . $15.99
Philly Groove/Unidisc (Canada), Early 70s Condition:
Nice compilation of the best cuts that First Choice cut for the Philly Groove label before moving onto Warner Brothers and Gold Mind. The tracks are classic Philly girl group soul from the 70's, and the sound that they get is the stuff that laid the foundation for a whole club generation. Norman Harris produced, with his usual flair, and the titles include "Smarty Pants", "Newsy Neighbors", "The Player", "Armed & Extremely Dangerous", "Wake Up To Me", and "Runnin' Out Of Fools".

    First Choice -- Delusions . . . CD . . . $11.99
    Charly Salsoul (UK), 1977/ 1994
US reissue of this mid-period First Choice LP, with lots of uptempo cuts that have that classic Salsoul/Gold Mind sound to them. Norman Harris and Ron Baker did a lot of the arrangements and produced, and the cuts include "Dr. Love", "Indian Giver", and "Let No Man Put Asunder".
