Jocelyn Brown
Intro
Jocelyn is one of the great disco divas. Her work can be compared to that of Loleatta Holloway, and Rochelle Fleming .Biography
Jocelyn Brown, an african american R&B and dance music singer, was born on November 25, 1950 in Kingston North Carolina. Although she has only one Hot 100 chart entry to her credit ("Somebody Else's Guy," #75 in 1984), she has an extensive background in the music industry and is considered legendary in the dance club music world. She has been a member of the groups Bad Girls, Inner Life and Salsoul Orchestra and has sung background vocals for Luther Vandross, George Benson, John Lennon and others. She has over twenty hits on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart, four of which have hit #1 ("Love's Gonna Get You" in 1986, "Keep On Jumpin'" in 1996, "Something Goin' On" in 1997 and "Fun" in 1998). She continues to record house music and has had chart hits well into the 21st century, including providing vocals to the track "I'm A Woman" for Cassius in 2002. --http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jocelyn_Brown [Aug 2005]Gospel

Here's what Musique's producer/cowriter Patrick Adams has to say about Jocelyn and Christine (Wiltshire) heard on "In the Bush":
"Jocelyn Brown and Christine Wiltshire were the two greatest living vocalists to me. Christine had been in Luther Vandross' original group on Cotillion, and she introduced me to Jocelyn. All through my life, Jocelyn has been like a charm for me. Jocelyn had the strength and gospel background, and Christine had the refinement and precision to make for some really slick backgrounds. Together, with whatever third person they brought to the party, it was a gas.Acid Jazz
By the beginning of the 1990s, DJ legend and early Incognito fan Gilles Peterson had founded the Talkin' Loud label, and he made Incognito one of his first signings. The 1991 single "Always There" (with vocals by Jocelyn Brown) became a Top Ten hit as part of Britain's booming acid jazz scene, prompting the release of Incognito's second album overall, Inside Life. It was largely a studio affair, with Maunick and engineer Simon Catsworth directing a large cast with many of the best musicians in Britain's fertile groove community.[...]
